Best way to remove and redo a bear coin?
« on: April 29, 2011, 11:04:00 AM »
Hello Gang,
I have a beautyful 64'-65' K-Mag that I am cleaning up and restoreing. The coin on it has seen better days and needs redone. I know the coin should be brass in color but it looks like it is another material with a yellow brass colored finish on it. The finish has for the most part come off and looks like crap. How would be the best way to go about redoing the coin?  What is the best way to remove the coin?
Here is a pic about what I'm dealing with.
Thanks in advance.
Aaron

There's a guy on here that goes by the handle "the real bowdoc". I'd send him an email.

It basicly says to hot melt glue a bolt to the coin and then heat up the bolt and it will pull the coin out.

Yes, and he also talks about how he cleans up the old ones (he uses a finish/epoxy remover).
