identifying old bow with aluminum lamination
« on: May 04, 2011, 12:04:00 AM »
A friend of mine picked up a old bow at a pawn shop, it is 66" static recurve with a lamination of aluminum under the belly lamination. the writing on it is to faded to make out. there are no decals.  I understand Bear tried alum, and it didn't work out.. I don't know if they where static recurves or not?

The 1950 and 1951 Kodiak K-6 were the only 66" static bows that Bear made that had an aluminum lamination.

Those years the Kodiak was also made in 62" and 64".

The Static Grizzly, made from 1949 to 1951, also had an aluminum lamination, but was only made in 62".

That is a Kodiak and I believe either a 50 or 51. Wade may be able to tell the exact year though. I have one just like it only left handed in my collection.
