DH Hi Speed
« on: June 07, 2011, 10:31:00 AM »
I scored a Howatt Hi Speed yesterday off craigslist
$50 42@28
(ya right more like 48@28 lol) 58"
Has a pin site on it, but is straight and in decent shape.
serial 71578092, it has the Ne Plus Ultra decal and a beautiful rosewood riser with black glass limbs

Pictures of it and the Matador will be added (once my daughter wakes up)

Would that make it a '57 or a '67

That's probably a '67 with the rosewood and black glass.

In '57 they were being called the Mamba Hi-Speed but became just Hi-Speed a few years later. Later on they dropped Hi-Speed and became the Mamba.

Here's a Mamba Hi-Speed from the late 50's (c.1958).  I believe this model was introduced in 1957.
