Bear Tigercat with a cracked handle
« on: June 27, 2011, 10:37:00 PM »
I have a Bear Tigercat with a crack in the grip. I can torque the riser from side to side and can see it move just a little. The crack is not wide enough to get glue into. It also has a ding in the fiberglass which I think can be easily repaired with glue. I have attached pictures (I hope) I would like some advise on how I could repair this or if it is worth repairing. Thanks Guys.

I just fixed a bow,for a buddie of mine just like that.I used Loctite 420 and a syringe to get in the crack.and clamped it for about 24 hours.

It is hard to tell from the pics but the crack is so tight that I don't know if I can get a syringe in it. I have to grab the bow and twist it to even be able to get it to open up and even then it would be tough to get even a pin in it. You think it would be okay to shoot and then repair when or if the crack gets worse? Thanks guys.

Loctite 420 is amazing stuff and will wick into the very thinnest crack. It WILL suck into that crack.

Not sure I'd want to shoot that bow until it was fixed.

I would make the repair for several reasons. But mostly because if done correctly that bow will be fine and the repair will actauly be stronger then the rest of the bow.Yes its true a glue joint is always stronger.Thats why you see many many laminated riser ? because they are stronger.
Hey here is a deal for you.Loctite cost about 20 bucks and a syringe about 30 cents.I just purchased 100 syringes and 4 new bottle of loctite both on tuesday. You want to send me your bow I will make the repair for free.It will take a 30 cent syringe and 25 cents worth of loctite. But I will do it for the cost of return shipping only free repair all it will cost you is shipping back home.If you choose to take me up on my offer I will be glueing some bows next week.If its here it will only take me about 10 minutes to make the repair 24 hours cure time.Your call free repair or ??????? bd
