catalog/magazine collecting

Hi im really getting the hang of collecting old bows and now want to collect catalogs/magazines can somebody please explain where to start.I go to flea markets and garage sales often and not sure where to find at a good price.I dont see many treads on the subject but it seems like alot of fun.Plus are there compiled catalogs like bear has on that cd?Thanks

Sad to say, but your best bet is probably gonna be the big auction site...aside from luck that is.  But get your checkbook out, they're not going cheap.  If you hadn't been watching, there have been a few in the past month that have been absurdly expensive.

Yea, the online auction is definetly going to be your best bet. But like previously mentioned they are bringing really good money lately.

I probably could be talked out of some of my Bear Catalogs for the "right" price.

I have a collection of Bowhunter magazines from the first issue to the most recent (missing a few issues) also have Traditional Bowhunter mags from the first until most recent (also missing a couple) PM me if interested.

The Bear catalogs from the Grayling years are pricey but the old Archery magazines can be found at very reasonable prices and can be good research material. Another neat one to look at are the old Robin Hood Catalogs which had many different bows from the period.

My wife kicks up a storm over my collection of old Gun Digests and old archery magazines. "Deal with it", I tell her. Those dusty old pages give you a snapshot of American culture and sporting equipment in a bygone era, a time and a people that we will never see again. It makes me sad to think that the WW2 generation is all but gone, and what has become of our once great nation. Reading the old articles is a good way to escape from reality. So yes Honey, "Deal with it", because I'm buying MORE of those old hunting / gun / bow books every chance I get!
