Birthdate for a Kodiak Magnum?
« on: August 21, 2011, 03:02:00 PM »
Hey All.  Could you help me with the production date of a Bear Kodiak Magnum?  Serial Number KU32128.  It has two tone brown riser with greenish/grey glass.

Thanks.

1970-72 No stabilizer bushing 70. Stabilizer bushing Kodiak Magnum silkscreen on back 70-71 but more than likely a 71 as they were standard beginning that year. They could be ordered as an option before that though. Kodiak Magnum silkscreen on the belly 72.

It has the bushing.  Kodiak Magnum silkscreen on the back.  So probably 1971?  Thanks, Jack.

For future reference, what are the best sources for this info.  For my Smith and Wessons I use the "Standard Catalog".  Does Bear have something similar?

The Bear catalogues 1948-78 are available on CD from 3Rivers. I don't actually have one myself but should. Here are the Magnums 61-77
