cabon express heritage
« on: December 12, 2007, 07:14:00 PM »
well i finally made to the archery shop the first of the week and bought 2 ce heritage 150 shafts to play with. man these things are nice. did not take but a few minutes to have them flying nice out of my 50# tomahawk. i think the need a little more tuning but i've only shot them a few times. nice weight too. i think tha they were about 515 gr. without any weight tubes and just a field point up front. very nice quallity looking shaft. i'm going to shoot these somemore but i can see a dozen coming in the near future.

B-Dog, are they full length? Even than out of a 50# Tomahawk and just a field point they should be stiff, for Example I shoot them at 29.5"s with 175 grain point weight out of a 54# RER Arroyo which is cut 3/16th. past center. and the weight sounds off as mine with 175 grain point, wrap, and nock and feathers weigh just 500 grains. No problem I have just shot them out of lots and lots of bows and I know they would be stiff out of that bow unless full length and even than they would seem stiff to me. Shawn

they are not ful lenth. i cut 1 off in small sections until it bareshafted nice. i'm guessing its about 30.5 to 31"  i never measured it . as for the weight i'm pretty sure thats right. i'm at work tonight but can verify in the morning. this weight was after i fletched the shaft with a wrap. remember i did all this testing and weighting in just a very short time

Sound like those 150's might be a little heavier than 10gpi. But we've already had that conversation.  :D

You might want to consider the new Heritage 90. They just came out. It is only 29" long, but the spine is .530 which is lighter than the 150. If you need some, they are listed on the Sponsor's Classifieds.
I am shooting them out of a bow pulling 51# and they fly great with a 160 point.

The topic/argument in regards to the weight of the 150s has come up on several occassions lately and although they are marked 10gpi, many have found them to be closer to 11gpi. My setup is a 30" 150 with standard inserts, 200gr points, wraps, 5" inch feathers, and signature nocks. Total arrow weight 570gr. This is close to 30gr heavier than they are supposed to be. Fine with me though, they fly great and pack quite a punch.

I shoot them from a ChekMate Hunter II that is approx 55lb at my draw(29").

I am shooting some out of a Whip Classic that is 47@28 and I draw a shade under 28".  I am shooting a 175gr point and they are cut 29".  Fly like darts.  They weigh around 520 if I remember correctly.

I have a ton of bows, but right now I am shooting the CXH 90s from a Black Widow PSR at about 51 lbs. They fly perfect. My 45b Spisey Stick Prototype won't shoot them, it needs a very stiff shaft.
How a bow's riser is cut makes a big difference in spine required for good flight.

John knows his stuff about shafts as well. Yes the weight issue has come up and I believe after speaking to a rep the ones that have come out in the last year or so have had issues with quality control, thus the high weight. I have a bunch that are at least 2 and 3 years old and they all weigh very close to 10gpi. The lady I spoke to as B-Dog said is looking into the matter. Shawn

the 150's that i am shooting are flying good out of my bow. seems to be a well made shaft other than the wieght differance. as a matter of fact i really like them.  i can only guess that the spine is what its suppose to be. i have no way to test. the only problem is i am wanting to order a dozen and not sure they will be the same or fly the same as what i have.

Order them up, they are a great shaft and 99% of the guys shooitng could not tell the difference in 30 grains of arrow weight when shooting. The lady I spoke with said the spine will be the same even if the weight is slightly off. I PM'ed ya. Shawn

B-Dog, I'm using the 50gr brass insert plus 125 gr steel BH adaptor, plus 125 gr BH for total of 300 gr up front.  My 150 shafts are cut 28" (without nock...nock and adaptor probably add close to .75" total arrow length). These shoot great from my widow PL's but are a little stiff from my t-hawk (all drawing 45#-47# at my 27" draw).  With same wt up front probably need to be longer for the T-hawk, and longer yet if using dacon string...at least that was the way it worked for me.
