Got my PSR today!
«

My new PSR showed up today! I've got a half dozen shots on it so far....i'm a bit confused.
i was jacking around with tuning some bare cedar shafts on my old Bear over the weekend. The shafts I had had too weak of a spine for the Bear....the shortest possible arrow I could make was still nock left (quite a bit).
I took the shortest arrow I cut for the Bear and let it fly thru the PSR. It is nock right! I shot 6 shots...all nock right.
What up wit dat? The PSR has a fast flight string and the same poundage as the Bear at 28" draw....should I just conclude each bow is different?

It is due to the fact that the PSR has a longbow grip, which is not cut to center, and the bear which i'm assuming is a recurve is cut to, or a little past center, thus needing a stiffer shaft. The PSR needs a weaker shaft because the as the string is trying to force the shaft straight forward, the riser basically "gets in the way" and so the arrow must bend around the shelf. Congrats on the new bow, they are nice shooters.

AZ is pretty much on, the bears are cut past cenetr and their performance is pretty darn good. Can I ask why the PSR? Why not their TF? Just curious as to why ya chose that one. Usually guys choose the PSR because of they likea 50s stlye recurve with more of a LB grip. Congrats on your new bow! Shawn

thanks guys!
i bought it because it looks cool! that is the honest truth!
so i guess i might be screwed on an arrow purchase i made a few days ago. i ordered some cedars spined for 65#-70# b/c of my testing with the Bear.
what is the max length (past your draw) that you'd want an arrow to be on a recurve? on the 65#-70# arrow, i might have to shoot a little longer than normal to keep the spine down...

I wouldn't conclude anything yet. First off, the PSR has a different grip than you're used to and you haven't got it set up yet. There's quite a bit of difference between setting the PSR's brace at 7" and setting it at 7 3/4".
Follow O.L.'s advice on tuning when your cedars come in and see where you end up. If they end up long, fret not, you can still shoot them, or add point weight and cut them down. Ending up too short...now that's a problem!

The PSR is cut to center, but most recurves are cut a little past center. Mine is 56" and #47@28". It shoots a GT 3555 cut to 29 1/4" with a 125 point and a 50 grain brass adapter extremely
well.

My PSR shoots the CX Heritage 90s very well. Mine is pulling about 51#. The CX 90s are 29".
