Im Filming a Documentary on ELB, help please!

Hey everyone, i will be filming a documentary about how the longbow of britain changed warfare, if any of you have extensively shot ELB's/ warbows, or have any extensive knowledge on the subject, send me a pm or comment.
I also posted on the bowyers bench, but i thought i might get many people also interested In the ELB to help, thank you!

The best book for warfare and archery is Vic Hurley's "Arrows Against Steel".  Its available in amazon.  

Hurley, who was a U.S. military expert, does not think the English bow changed anything in warfare.  His published thesis needs to be included and/or countered in any balanced documentary.

Most of the sensationalized and exaggerated TV documentaries on the longbow, coming out of Britain, have glaringly ignored Mr Hurley's writings.

Sal - I agree with you that Hurley's book is one of the best and one of the few that I re-read periodically.

Will - Several additional titles that you might want to consider are "Secrets of the English Warbow" by Hugh Soar and "The Crooked Stick: A History of the Longbow" (Weapons in History) also by Hugh Soar.  There is also "The Great Warbow" by Robert Hardy and Mathew Strickland.

These books can be found on Abebooks.com and contain an amazing amount of detail on the warbow.

By the way, Hugh Soar is a world reknown authority on the longbow and a member of the Society of Archer-Antiquaries.  Robert Hardy, the English actor, is likewise extremely knowledgeable on the warbow.

Hugh Soar is probably the most knowledgeable authority on the longbow and his published work is worth the money.

Another good source for info is the book:  "Longbow A Social and Military History", also from Robert Hardy.

I would also recommend you look up bowyer Gerald Welch of the Welchman Longbow Company. Very Nice English Longbows.
