Bow hinge?
« on: August 17, 2012, 08:50:00 PM »
I am looking at a bow/arrow box with a couple of bows and some arrows in it.  Both bows are interesting in their own right. One looks to be an osage bow, stamped 45# that is hinged at the handle with what looks to be a brass hinge. The second bow is about 16" long and comes apart at the handle and is either a trinket or a salesman sample.

The hinge is very well made but I can't see any markings on it.

Are there any web sites out there that may have info on older hinges that are used or does anyone out there have any info on them

I didn't have my camera with me but plan on going back and take some photo's.

The guy wants $225.00 for the whole package but may be able to get him down a bit.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Get a picture but sounds from your description like it could be very interesting and well worth the money. Others here would need to see it but all Osage hinged bows I have had the pleasure of looking at had some wonderful history attached. Can you describe the bow in more detail? Is it backed with anything or static limb tipped??

The bow does not appear to be back with anything and has a slight recurve at the tips.  Photo's will be taken next week.
