Cool find.....
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:11:00 AM »
Went to a big Flea/antique market yesterday and in the process found a Bear recurve. Bear Polar, 66" 33#. Jack Shanks says it's 1961-1964. The old fella wanted $55 for it but we got talking about archery and one thing led to another and I bought it for $30. I was his bow that he shot competition with back in the day. Couple small stress lines inside the fades and it draws as smooth as a baby's bottom! Really nice Zebra wood riser.....even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while...lol!

The wife shot her Polar today on a 30 target 3/D course and did well It was the first time she shot at some longer yardages, but that is a learning thing. The bow performed very well. I find it amazing that a bow made in the early 60's can still send an arrow down range with authority, and look good doing it!

66" and 33#'s!! Matched up with the right shaft it's a Perfect 3-D bow for a Lady and with time she will meet those long distances with no problem. The old bows still shoot every bit as good as the newer one's in my way of thinking. Good score for you Ron....

Careful about how you bring up needing a "bigger Rack" Ron.  She may take you the wrong way

The wife shot the old Polar at the Oxtar archery event over the weekend. She shot a 40 target course twice with the Polar and did pretty good. With practice shots she took she must have shot it a 100 times. That Polar really works well for her.
