Bear T/D sights ???
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:24:00 PM »
OK,just got a sweet B mag with 3 sight "circles"....so I have never used sights before and started messing around. I had to lower the sight almost to bottom to shoot at 20 yds (which really helped me group well) . Question is : what is the higher 2 other sights for....the way I shoot would put me at like 5 yds....so what am I doing wrong?
is it wher I anchor that makes the higher pins useless?thanks

Top pin should be 20 yds, next one down would be 30, bottom one 40. Just to give them numbers. You can set them to whatever yardage you like.
You will need at least the first finger in the corner of the mouth, even better if you anchor under the jaw. The bow also has to be vertical.

I figuredthat was the difference but I anchor ring finger in mouth, and usually shoot off knuckle. I would have to change many things to use 3 sight pins

I have one Bear TD set up with sight rings. I just take it out and shoot it once in awhile for something different to do. It does help with form and concentration and checking arrow flight. I shot competition  a long time ago so it really isn't difficult to go back and forth.

Kuch,

Been playing with this lately and must say enjoying it.

The single pin you can see on my A mag is set at 25 yds, I do have a much lower anchor than most with the arrow nock somewhere around the base of my chin. Works a treat.

OldskoolArcher kindly sent the pin across the pond,

Thanks Nick, much appreciated!!

Andrew, Very nice group. I shot at 20 and got good groups also...but my pin is down at the bottom. I anchor with ring finger on eye tooth. My B mag has the elevated "toothbrush" rest and the arrows that bareshaft perfectly are long. I really hate watching  the arrow but is almost point on at 20 and the sight is very low?? it works for me but dont know why. I am leary about hunting with the sight although I think i can shoot tighter groups with the sight.

Kuch
If you remove the screws from your sight plate, the tooth brush rest pops off from the back side and you can set it up to shoot off the shelf with a rug rest or feather rest and a arrow side plate of leather or other material.

Roy, thoaught about that but this bow is in super great shape, hate to shoot off the rubber shelf as it is mint condition and didn't want to tear it off and replace. I am going to take it to the woods saturday.

Kuch, i just stuck a piece of bear rug rest onthe rubber shelf and leather on the side plate. Groups are not always like that! Just best group of thr session.
