Unique Kodiak bows
« on: November 30, 2012, 09:51:00 AM »
Ive been thinning my collection of bows and rummaging thru my stuff and found bows that I forgot I had and wanted to share them here.
2 very cool and unique Bear Kodiaks. Both completely original.

1960 Kodiak, special ordered weight at 26 1/2 " from Bear Archery factory...

1959 Kodiak 47# with such amazing section of Brazilian Rosewood  (sap wood)........

I found not 1 but 2 1959 56" Kodiaks.
I'm getting alzheimers!!!!

This particular Kodiak brings a great memory that I'll share.

Bought years ago from an old fella who loved to bowhunt.
His bows were not polished or babied. He was a die hard bowhunter.

Like some of us today, he liked a checkered grip for solid hand placement.
Soooooo, he checkered it himself! Awesome guy.
He then put a notch in the shelf for every deer he killed with this bow.

If you look closely you will see 4 small notches at the edge of the shelf towards front of bow.

Bow on right in photo.
The other 56" Kodiak pictured needs a refinish but is absolutely beautiful!

Your right about that Ron.
Actually, my brother had them at his house and said that I'd better get all my junk out before he throws them out!
When I seen the bows, I was shocked really. I thought I had sold them years ago.

He reminded me that when September 11,2001 had taken place here in NY,  he and I just put the bows away and that was the last time I saw them til now. There are many more bows that were with them.

I agree - love to see sapwood on Brazilian Rosewood!  Definitely adds some unique character.
