any info on these old bows appreciated
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:05:00 PM »
Just picked up an old "Custom Built" fiberglass longbow. I bought this for the kids to use...or so i thought...in real nice shape. Unpacked it checked for any cracks etc etc...put a new string on it and HOLY CRAP!!! this thing pull about 50 lbs. Well I instantly grabbed an arrow put it to the string and gave it a shot at 10 yds. dead center buried nearly to the fletching. Thought that was a fluke so shot a couple more all 3 shots within a 2" circle. WOW this thing shoots just as hard as my new samick sage @53lbs. so now I'm loookin at an "Action Bow" 8600 Model fiberglass recurve but can't seem to find much info on these. I do know that the model 8000 was a kids bow and the 8800 a hunting bow but thats about it can anyone tell me anything about these bows?

2 more things I've noticed are they are ugly as sin and the hand shock will give you a headache...would some string silencers help with that?

wow thanks for trying I did discover the Custom built was a company called ply-flex went out of business in 61 not too sure on that date i know fiberglass bows were very common up through the 70's when archery was still a school activity. Wish my school would've had it.
