BW HS model questions.
« on: May 05, 2013, 08:08:00 PM »
I haver several of the older Black Widows with metal handles, think the HS was the last one. I traded for a minty one recently, 58", 54#. I was wondering if they would handle fast flight strings, being made in the 1980's. Anyone know about this, dates they were made thru. This one is a little heavier than I like, but can shoot it well for about 50 shots before I start getting tired. It is a screamer!

The first bows made by BW to handle fastflite were made in the late 1988. What is the serial number of the limbs and what color are they?

The HS model was started by the Wilson Bros in 1976 and continued thru 1993 by Mr.Beck.At the end of 1993 the HS was discontinued and the SA model took it's place. In February of 1988 Black Widow went to the fastflight models with a serial number of 6782.
They also made some of those HS that had a flat shelf for fastflight. The 1988 and 89 brochure shows the HS with a flat shelf.Just go by the serial number, after 6782 it's made for a fastflight string.
Hope this is of some help.

Sam:

On mine the serial number is stamped in the bottom limb butt and the specs are stamped in the side of the bottom limb.

Rabob help me out here. Just looked at mine before I came in the house. Specs are stamped ont the side of the limbs. Took the limbs off and here is what was stamped on both, in this order.
91on top
618 on bottom. can you decipher this? Iwas thinking 1991, #618?

Yes, those limbs were made in 1991 and are fastflite compatible. Enjoy!

What Kelly said!!
It was the 618th bow made in 1991.It was in 1991 that Black Widow went to a 5 digit serial number beginning with the year.
