1951-1952 kodiaks
« on: August 27, 2013, 05:12:00 PM »
Anyone that would have knowledge telling the difference between the 1951 and 52 Bear Kodiak bows please chime in and if possible show some pics. I do not see many of these models listed and other than yellow glass and Running Bear logo are there differences in tip or handle style ? I have one and would like to find the other model year as well.
Thanks, Paul

1951 had aluminum lam under a Maple belly and the 1952 had blond glass both sides and no aluminum lam.

Did the 1950 also have aluminum lamination under a maple belly with the woven orange glass opposite? I have that type and thought it is a 1950 model. Also did Bear drop the aluminum lam sometime during the 1951 production year ?
Thanks !

finsky,

I have a aluminum lam with dark red woven glass and one with orange woven glass on the backs both with maple on the belly. Bear dropped the aluminum lam mid year 1951.

It sounds like you have a 1950. Woven glass and alum lam under maple belly.
