Strings and arrows for light weight Bears

For most of my light weight vintage Bears, I can shoot B50 strings and can use any number of carbons, alum or cedar arrows.

But I have a couple really light weight target bows, a 25lb 1962 Kodiak Special and a 30lb 1956 Kodiak Special, that I can't seem to find any arrow that doesn't show being too stiff, unless I pack like 300grs up front regardless if 1816 or AD Trad XL Lite or GT 15/35, which I obviously don't want out of such light bows. My 35lb wood arrows don't do well either.

Is there any other string material I can use that won't damage the tips that will "stiffen" the arrow with some zip or is there a target arrow some use that works good out of these weights?

Try 1716' or 1616's.  That's what my grandkids use and they fly pretty good.

what is your draw length? I find 1716's to work pretty well with most recurves in the 30# range.

Easton makes some target carbons in real light spines.  My wife's bow in 21# and I got some 1000 spine arrows that fly real well out of it.

1716 or if you can find them 1618 size shafts would be fine with 100 gr. or under nib type points. Also the old Micro-flite size 2 with 60 gr. glue in point would be a good fit for both bows at a 29" draw.

Hi Bob. I would try a newer string material like fast flight or dynaflight. I personally use it on all of my kids or lighter weight bows.
Even without overlays, and proper diameter loops, you be fine. And easier to gain spine then to invest in more arrows.

If you make your own strings and need some material, give me a holler, you can have some to try.

Thanks. That's what I was wondering on these light bows. There's a lot of give in the limbs. I wonder if being such low weight, if they could handle not having the stretch. However, my 1962 Kodiak Special is 63" 25lbs and in super mint condition. I don't want to harm that one in any way. It's a great bow for kids, women and even me.
