Bear Flicker?

Compare the Sears "Flicker" to a Bear "Black Bear."

The Flicker may have different color glass.

The Flicker was a bow made to be sold at depatrment stores and not found in the Bear catalogs. Bear, Indian Archery and Pearson all made bows to be sold this way and you will see them marked Sears, Pennys Foremost and Coast to Coast. Another bow made by Bear and not found in the catalogs was the Ranger which was mostly made for school archery programs and were in real low poundage.

I have a Bear/Sears Flicker, 60" / 45#, Looks to have a Maple riser, light green glass on the inside and brown glass on the outside limbs, no tip over lays.  Looks more like a 60's Bear Cub to me. Side by side there isn't much differance.

I worked for Sears when I was in college. Anything with the Sears name on it had to be top quality back in the days before KMART/Sears.

If it had the "Craftsman" logo on it, you could use a screwdriver for a chisel and get a new one - no questions asked. I worked in the hardware department, and wished I knew then that I could have bought a Sears-branded Bear Kodiak with my employee discount.

Any Bear bow with a Sears name was top quality.

Weren't the Montgomery ward bows Pearsons? At least for a while?

Yes they were as well as Indian Archery, American Archery, and Bear also. They all marketed there bows to all of the department stores at the time.
