59 KODIAK MEDALLION
« on: June 18, 2014, 12:21:00 PM »
Recently happened upon a pretty nice original cond. '59 Kodiak in need of a little TLC. Does anyone have a source for a proper copper medallion to make it complete?? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
ML

If you want an original be prepared to pay as much as you paid for the bow! LOL
Kurt who posts on here makes reproductions that are ringers for the real ones. I think it is Kurt Bellefeuile; but I may have misspelled his name. Pretty sure he goes by kurtbel.

Thanks, I have been given Kurt's contact info. I think a repro will be OK.

I bought a couple of them (knockoffs) on the big auction a couple of months back.  I installed one in a 59 Kodiak Special that I have been touching up.  Yesterday I happened to look at the medallion as I was putting the bow up after some play time and noticed that it has taken on the appearance of the real ones.  Not quite as tarnished as the fifty five year old medallions but it is will be hard to tell from the original in a few more months.

If you heat the medallion up quite a bit that will accelerate the change. I was dipping the medallions in a liquid too; but now I forget what that was!

Was it that cheap tequila you have in the garage?
