Anybody Wing-ing it??

I'm a latecomer to the world of Wing bows. I enjoyed shooting a AMF-era Red Wing Hunter for a while and it was a real launcher but the grip wasn't quite my cup of tea. But I love the look of the early Wing bows, especially, ( e.g. a  Gull with sea foam green glass)  and I'm told they all shoot very efficiently. I recently came across what appears to be an early 60's Swift Wing, a gorgeous 62" bow that looks like it has an I beam riser, possibly solid, and the wood looks like rosewood or bubinga. In short, a bow with looks and likely performance like an early 60's Kodiak and it got me thinking that Wings ought to get a closer look along with the Bears and BP's . Is anybody out there a Wing historian and /or hunting with an old Wing other than a RWH?

looks like the 70# bow on auction. Wing bows shoot great, but 70# isn't for everyone.

I was just thinking about the topic and how many Wings I have owned over the years.  I have owned a 52" RedWing Hunter, 2 58"RWH, a Swift Wing, and the all phenolic Thunderbird.  

Right now, I have no Wings.  They're OK, but just preferred the Bears and Howatts.  

There is certainly nothing about their quality and shooting attributes that should deter anyone from having a Wing or two on their rack.

Horney, that's the bow. I cant shoot a 70#, but I really like the lines, sort of like a Browning Appolo. Ive never soone another like it..I'd love to find a similar 50#

I have been shooting Wing Thunderbirds (62") for the last 2-3 years and I can't say anything bad. They shoot great, are fast and smooth. Got a P2 also and it's a great shooter too. Very good bows.

I agree mangonboat. I love 62" bows and bet one like that would shoot nicely.

Wing bows are nice bows. Love those tiny tips on the early models. I have owned and shot many over the years. I still have my favorite a P2 takedown with two sets of limbs. Great target shooting bow. If I was going to start collecting vintage bows Wing would be at the top of the list.

I really got into Wing bows after collecting Kodiaks.  I love the tiny tips & Rosewood of all the early Wings...but especially the Presentations.  I still have a boat load of early Wings...tippit

Nice bows you have there.......... Narrow limb tips and fast limbs. The Presentations are some of the finer shooting (and looking) of the era!

I have a 62" 44# Wing "Head Ski" Falcon That is a great shooter. Almost bought a Gull online yesterday but it went pretty high.
