Black widow bows?
« on: February 17, 2015, 04:17:00 PM »
Was given two black widow bows today.  They are both take downs both black handles and are the older Wilson brothers bows.  One has white limbs and is 65" long, 40# @28" , ser # 5409 and the name is the Ghost.  The second is a hunting bow, 54" long  42# @ 25" and the serial number is 1692, had LB 1200 printed on it. .  The black bow has wood laminated limbs with brown glass.  It is also painted black and green (by the owner).  I stipped just enought to see the wilson brothers sticker and the info that I posted above.

The limbs on the white bow appears to have a plastic coating on them.  That coating is cracked on the top limb/tip overlay.

Will this hurt the bow, can I shoot it and is there any value to these bows.

I guess any info on them would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

I don't believe there is a plastic coating on the bow. Should be just varnish. It is hard to say what is going on without a picture. I have a ghost also they are an all white bow and a neat bow. Your Ghost is 1962. The other bow is 1959. Hard to value without pics of condition. Hope this helps.

Mine has a black handle and white limbs. There is a white covering over the wood as there is a 1/4" chip missing off the end and you can see the wood bow tip. I know pix would help but I can't quite figure that one out.

I shot the hunting bow at leagues tonight and that is about the fastest recurve  bow I have ever shot.
