Help with some Bear bow chronology
« on: May 17, 2015, 05:00:00 PM »
Looking for a little help with some brief questions (below) for my records. Folks having any Bear Archery catalogs from 1990-2006 could help answer these questions. If you have any of these catalogs, please share a list of traditional Bear bows offered for each of these years I'd appreciate that!

1. What was the first year the "Kodiak Pony" was offered? (It was discontinued in 2007).

2. What was the last year the "Lit'L Kodiak" was made? (It was first offered in 2002).

3. What was the last year the "Lady Kodiak" was made? (It was first offered in 1997)

4. What was the last year the "Bear Hunter Take-Down" was made? (It was first offered in 1988 and I saw it in a 2000-01 fold-out poster).

5. What was the first year the "Cheyenne" model changed from the RMEF medallion to the Golden Bear medallion?

6. What was the final year of production for the Fred Bear Take-Down Hunter (introduced in 1997 alongside the Fred Bear Take-down)?

7. What was the first year Bear used the last two-digits of the year for Bear bow serial numbers, 2001 or 2003?  At what point did the serial numbers also include the month of manufacture? I think 2001 the first year that the last two digits of the production year were uszed in the serial number (ex., -01)?

THANKS for your help!!!

I commend you on your curiosity.  Once you get all that infomation gathered and verified, please post it up so that the collectors in 2050 will have a resource.

My knowledge, which is limited, pretty much ends when Bear stopped using exotic woods so I am of no help to you.  Good luck.  Have you considered calling Bear and asking those questions?

Hi Brad,

Sorry, I have not checked here in awhile. I have indeed submitted these questions to Neil Byce III and Jason Pickerill at Bear Archery since I am missing the Bear Archery catalogs for most of these years (1990-2006) and they are hard to find!  Have not heard back from them as of yet. But I will post whatever comes in. Thanks.
