Strongbow
« on: December 16, 2007, 09:33:00 PM »
I've had a set of takedown longbow limbs that I messed up and put one of the veneers backwards.    :knothead:
With the Online shooting tourney coming up I thought I'd try and mount the limbs on my converted compound riser and use it. Well I've got the limbs roughed out and a string on it. It turned out to be 64+" n to n. Don't know the draw weight yet cause I've got more work to do on it yet. Decided to call it strongbow since it will have the longbow limbs on a strong metal riser.
Here's what she looks like so far.

Nice looking bow. How do the limbs line up to the riser? How does it shoot?

The original compound had the limbs attached with a set of rounded metal rockers that have two 1/4" studs that mounted in holes in the limbs. I just drilled matching holes in the longbow limbs which hold the limbs in place. I'll add some rosewood spacers on the sides of the limbs for looks and additional stabilization.
Haven't shot is much yet but it sure is quiet.

Thats a nice way to 'recycle' a compound.  Looks like it'll be a good target bow.  Let us know how it tests out.

What arrows are you shooting?
