I inherited a bow

I think it is a Frank Eicholtz and or White bow. It is about 65" long and appears to be a 56# bow.

My dad traded a home made duck boat for it in the late 1950's. It was already used, so I don't really know how old it is. Any information that I could get would be appreciated. Here are some photo's.

LBR made a string for me and I am pretty stoked about this bow. It throws a 65/70 Surewood arrow by Snag very well.

There is a little thump to it, but I would not call it hand shock.

Seems to be pretty easy to shoot.

Cool bow!  Looks unique, is that Ostrich leather grip?  What year you think it was made and what's the poundage?  Good luck w it.

J.P., that is not ostrich.  Those little dots are clusters of hair follicles.  My first thought was pigskin but there are too many  hair follicles per cluster if my memory is correct.  Pigskin should be three follicles.

Fred Anderson responded with a lot of information. I think he was right on.  He said it was a early recurve by a guy named Radtke. Tim Meigs worked for him and may have built it.

It is 65 or 66" long and 56 lbs at 28". The grip is not what I am used to, but after LBR made an appropriate string, I started shooting it and I gotta say it is an easy bow to shoot consistently with.

So much so that I may use it on my spring bear hunt in Manitoba this coming May with Stickflingers. It would be so cool to harvest a big black bear with my Dad's bow, since he died about twenty years ago.

Other than my son, I can't imagine anyone else I'd rather hunt with.

Fred said it was made in 1952 or '53.  I realize 66" bows are not the craze right now, especially recurves - but I like how this bow shoots.
