basket quivers
« on: December 17, 2007, 05:28:00 PM »
I've seen some nice looking basket quivers here and there and am interested in getting one for summertime shooting.  They look light and cooler than leather for warmer weather!  Anyone know who makes some nice ones?  I'd rather get one handmade by an individual (and sponsor) than from one of the bigger stores.  What about weaving in different colors?  So what are my options?  And pics are always welcome!

There's some build alongs and how toos in here, try a search for "basket quiver".
I know OsageTree built a swell one in his "homemade archery segment.

I use a basket made by the wife of Northern Mist Longbows dude. They are at shows together, Compton, Kzoo, etc.

Basket quivers are nice for field points at shoots and such, but snag on broadheads unless the BH's have rounded back edges.

Here's a pic of my friends first attempt following the instructions in the "How-To" section. It's real comfortable in the summer and I wear it proudly at our local shoots.

leather dye works great for making it whatever color you need.  Mine is yellow and blue.

deadsmple, that's a nice one and the kind of thing I was thinking of.  I've never done any weaving.  I may have to give it a shot!  How is the shoulder strap attached to the quiver?  Is it just woven through the slats?

I can't find this "how-to" - can someone help me locate it, please?

I made one a while ago from this one plant I had growing in my backyard, I dont remember what exactly, but they were long green thick vines, alot of them here in vegas, My first time was a success, the only problem was uhm.....it was really short, and I can only put 3 arrows inside,

though it did make a nice cozy for my energy drinks! =D
