More prayers for my Dad please (update) He's in a better place.
« on: October 14, 2006, 01:24:00 AM »
First off thank you all for including my Dad in your prayers at my last request.  He had by-pass surgery about 5 weeks ago and everything has been going okay with the exception the recovery taking longer than expected and his kidneys shutting down. This was anticipated/expected as he only had about 20% function before all of the tests and surgery. He’s been getting dialysis treatments three times a week since his surgery.

After his dialysis treatment today he felt dizzy and faint, he had also complained of a cold sweat last night.  The tech at the dialysis center told him he should call someone to take him home.  Before someone got there to pick him up he fell out.  He had a heart attack.  They used a portable defibrillator on him but they estimate he was without oxygen to the brain for about 15 minutes; anything over 6 or 7 minutes and the risk of brain damage rises exponentially.  He is currently in a coma and on a ventilator; his heart is working on its own.  Their main concern at this point is his brain function.  His pupils are non-reactive and he doesn’t react to “high pain”.  They are going to try a procedure where they cool the body temp down to 91 degrees for 24 hours and then bring it back up slowly.  They give him a 50/50 chance at full recovery by doing this.  Patients that don’t have the cooling procedure have less than 30% chance.  We were told that the next 48 hours is very critical.

We know he’s in God’s hands.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers

Prayers sent for strength, comfort, and healing according to His will in Jesus.

Gosh.  So close, Anthony and then this... My heart goes out to you and all of your family!

Dear Lord, our friend needs you and his family and earthly father needs you.  You've been there with Anthony's dad through all that went before and now he's suffered a terrible set back.  You know all things before they even happen and we call on your infinite grace and power to heal Anthony's Dad and bring him back to health so that he might Glorfy your name and tell all about your Power and Grace.

We ask this according to your Will and in Jesus name.

We're back from a long day at the hospital. Early this morning, during a routine change of medication Dad's blood pressure dropped significantly - indicating that the medication was the only thing keeping his blood pressure up. They also measured the function of his heart to be at best 10%. During the day doctors came and went each giving their disappointing news. With our family and friends all around us and after much consideration of Dad's wishes we asked them to remove him from the breathing machine. He passed very quickly and quietly around 8:00 p.m. Thank you so much for your concern and prayers.  --Anthony

Tough choice to forgo your own feelings and honor those of a failing parent.  May God give you strength and peace, knowing that you're a good son who's honored a parent in the highest way possible..to sacrifice your own desires for that of your parent.

May the Lord bless you and keep and you and make His face shine upon all of you and give you peace!

Continued prayers for you and your family's growing peace in Christ, that the loss of your father might turn to peace that passes understanding, knowing your Dad is with God and healed in every way.

Thank you all for your continued prayers.  These times have been tuff, but we're trying to stay strong.  Since my Dad's passing my brother, my sister, and both of my sons have had birthdays.  Each celebration, though joyus, had tearful moments.  Thanks again for the continued support.  God Bless you all.

I know from some of my own challenges of late that this place is grand to come to and feel and read all the words of prayer and support.

You will continue in my prayers for all affected by your father's passing.  Time will ease the pain, but the bittersweet does and should remain.

You will be together again in another time and place...what a reunion for us all!

Peace, brother...
