Entire family trying to get healthy
« on: November 23, 2006, 08:37:00 PM »
Howdy guys, I would just really appreciate your prayers if yall don't mind praying for me and my family. We (Mom, Dad, and me) are all trying to change our lifestyle and mindsets in order to get healthy and lose weight. I need to lose alot and have a tough plan set out that will take about 5 to 6 months to get to my goal weight. This has been a very touchy topic for me for many years. Just recently I have figured out that alot of the problem is emotional related. Now, realizing this, I'm not working against myself un-knowingly, and working on it with (Of all things lol) a Dr. Phil book I have gained alot of understanding about the issue. I am actually more encouraged then I have ever been that I will prevail. I would appreciate it if yall would pray for us that we all would have strength and stamina to see the journey to the end and not get discouraged when it's tough.

Thank you guys very much for the prayers! HH

Dillon,

Well, Hoss, sounds like your at a very good starting place and look at that..IT's THANKSGIVING!

Sounds like all this coming together is a grand God-incidence and it sounds like your finally ready, by reaching out for prayer here, to accept that YOU cannot do jack alone.

Sounds like you've chosen to ask God for his help and realize that you didn't get where you are in a short time..won't change in a short time...but the first steps include facing who's the enemy.   :)

You have my solid prayers for leaning HARD on Christ and allowing Him to guide you, direct you and sustain you. Realizing that He accepts us EXACTLY as we are...forgives us, gives us Grace and Salvation without a bit of change but to open our hearts and give ourselves to Him. Once we get that in our head...He can come inside us and begin the process of change from within.

Ain't it cool?  I'm so excited for you.  There will be tons of guys and gals following along here once they can crawl off the couch after eating too much!  :)

You've got to keep us posted on yoru progress. Don't beat yourself up if you backslide or don't go forward at warp speed.  You can change yoru socks instantly..but changing beliefs and behaviors is a process---not an event.

Lean on Him.  And we've got yer back, bro!

Dillon, there are several different reasons for weight gain. Check with your doctor. The statement you made about you and your family wanting to lose weight may be an indicator of a problem a doctor could help you with.
Genetics are difficult to deal with if this is your families poblem You will fair better under a doctor care...... I had an accident and was unable to burn enough calories. While laying around the house, I gained weight. After I recovered from my  injuries I had developed a weight problem that needed to be addressed. I decided to cut out all sweet drinks an started to walk a mile every morning.I allowed myself to eat and drink what ever I pleased on the week ends. I lost 30lbs in a year and an inch in my waist. I never felt deprived by doing it this way. This may make it easier for you and your family.Diets are hard to adhere too.  I wish you the best!

Thanks for the kind words, Dillon.  Geezse..just the LOrd using this rusty ole vessel (as JC often speaks of himself) to do something worthwhile here and there.  :)

Keep the Son in your eyes!  With Him, all things are possible.

Thanks Matt for the info! I have already been to the Doc's office and all the blood work came back great. No thyroid problems or anything like that, Yahoo! lol. Diets don't work, only lifestyle changes work in the long run. I have cut out sweets, the worst of those Dr. Pepper, cut back on intake, and I've been walking 3 miles every morning for a few days now, taking the weekend off. I am confident I will see results fairly quickly. The biggest problem for me has been mindsets for several years. I feel really confident that I will win this long time battle knowing what I know now. However, yalls prayers are more then welcomed to keep up!!lol

Thanks everybody for the posts, have a great day! HH
