Prayers for the Father in Law
« on: December 08, 2007, 01:00:00 AM »
Greetings All,

Like the title says, I never thought I'd ask for prayers. My wife's father is coming to an end of his journey on earth due to prostate cancer ( He never got physicals, but when do ranchers and cowboys go to the doctor)? When they found out he had cancer, It was all ready in the bone.

They gave him 2 years to live, but he showed em where the bear ****z in the buckwheat and is over six years. But things are progressing rapidly. He went with my wife ( his daughter) and myself looking for her Montana moose. Althought we did not get her moose, we made memories as a family.

You may think think this is self centered but I ask that you pray that his passing is after Christmas.

He is hoping for the same thing. He does not want to ruin Christmas for his 5 grandkids.

This is hard to ask from my brothers on the wall. But I hope you all understand.

Please remember my wife, our kids, and her nieces, and nephews, and her father in your prayers.

Happy hunting, Jason

Wow. I am a grampa; and I would not like to ruin Christmas with my demise. I understand the situation.

Now is the chance though; to prepare the kids for what IS coming. I have been a hospice volunteer; and have some experience with the dying process. In the end he will 'go' happy. He is going to a better place; and I hope your religion can help you address that. Your comfort in his passing; will rub on the kids in a positive way. Negative feelings and fears will rub off to.

I will pray he dies with the love of his family around him.

Prayers out for you and yours. There is nothing self-centered about thinking of your family. You're a good man for it. I pray God grants you all a Blessed Christmas, and a smooth passing for Dad afterwards.

Prayers sent as we're going through the funeral of my wife's ex this weekend. All the boys and families are coming. Though difficult everyone is glad to be together.
God's best to your father and family

NOthing to apologize... wanting to keep our loved ones here for however long is selfish, but that is our nature and it's because we love them.

Brian has some good advice... Before or after Christmas, not letting the kids get prepared just isn't going to be a good thing...let them know, guide them, pray with them and help them know to savor this time

In Your Mercy Lord, guide our friend's end times and help his kids help their kids know how to bring about that inevitable transition. Amen.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!
