Community in trouble
« on: June 08, 2008, 04:39:00 AM »
In the town I work in there is a dead end road that has a little over 100 homes on it.   There is one way in/out.

Today we had what some are calling the 100 year flood.    A large dam ran over causing major erosion and cause two bridges to give in.   These bridges are the only way in/out for over 100 homes.

At this time we have not had any injuries.   Please pray that no one will get injuried during this ordeal.

   Thanks to all,   Jim

Wow. Hard to imagine being cut off like that!

Prayers for some smart decisions to be made and recovery efforts to bring folks together and resolve the drama.

Prayers that with so much damage, folks continue to be spared and good things happen, according to His will.

Praying for your community, we here in Martinsville are pumping and digging out. Lots of damaged property and devestated lives.

Everything is going good.   We were able to give the bridges a tempory fix and the folks could get their cars out and were able to park them on the open side of the bridges.   The bridges are open for foot traffic only.

Heres a link,  watch the ariel footage of the dam crumbling.

Wow..dude..that is something!!! Don't mess with mother nature!

So good to know that the damage was restricted to property and such and no loss of people.

Prayers continue for things to get better soon.

Keep safe. Stay smart!

I grew up and my parents till live in Martinsville. Luckily they live up on high ground (that would be Valley Drive, Terry) but I read the around 300-400 houses have been damaged.

From what I saw on-line the community is really pulling together to help folks out.

Prayers sent for all affected by these floods.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!
