War in Afghanistan Brought Close
« on: March 01, 2009, 02:29:00 PM »
Many of you have been directly touched by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Until recently it was just something on the news for me.  My nephew Jason is serving with the Il Nat Guard in Afghanistan.  On Tuesday of last week he was out on patrol with his unit when the Humvee right in front of his was hit by an I.E.D. All four of the U.S. soldiers in the Humvee were killed.  Upon hearing the news my first reaction was to pray frantically for the safety and well being of my nephew.  He was physically unharmed.  However, he held his best friend in his arms as he died.  Then, of course, it hit me that I need to pray for the families of the four men that were killed.  Please take some time to read the articles attached.  These men are heroes.  Are we living in such a way that honors the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Please pray for the grieving families.  Please pray for Jason.  Please pray for the innocent people of Afghanistan who just wish to live their lives free of the tyranny of the Taliban.  Pray for peace.

Thanks, brother. We need to be reminded periodically!

Many prayers for safety, insight, understanding and a grateful heart for all those who are in harm's way...
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Continued prayer.
