Prayers for friend who lost son in Afghanistan
« on: March 16, 2009, 11:07:00 AM »
Please pray for a good friend of mine who lost his son in Afghanistan.

The family just found out yesterday and is in a state of shock right now.

Any and all prayers of support and understanding would be greatly appreciated.

Prayers for the family is on the way from Georgia.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Prayers for the friends and families of all our fallen warriors. May their sacrifice not be in vain because of political posturing.

Lord, hear our prayers...

Prayers sent for the family, their son, and his extened military family still over there fighting.

If not for their valor we would not have this great country.

Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers.  The family is coping as well as can be expected.

Like someone else on here said we need to remember the families of all the fallen soldiers, not just the ones we know.  (There were three other soldiers killed in his Humvee.)

If everyone got as mad as I am right now, everytime we heard a soldier lost his life, whether we knew them or not, maybe we wouldn't be there.

With the media's slanted coverage on our efforts there, it's hard to know what to wish for, other than safety for all.

From returning Vets' view, it sure seems we've done a lot to try to help those impoverished souls to rebuild their lives/country... but you can't sell that in DC.

I lost too many friends in the Viet Nam era and saw so many waste away or their lives wasted from anguish, from the way they were treated on their return...with nowhere to turn for help to "let go", that I hate war.

I hate the death and loss it creates...but I'm reminded that long ago, it's been said, "freedom is never free"

May God rest his hand mercifully on those who have lost loved ones and bring them peace. "No greater love than to lay down your life for another."  May they never be forgotten...

May God's will prevail. May the Son always shine through our pain.

you got it!  An honor to pray for the family of a soldier.

five-oh,
My prayers go out to your friends family and all those which have lost loved ones. Both those lost during conflicts and those lost post conflict.
I've always been the type of person to hold in my feelings. Sometimes this is good sometimes maybe it isn't.
I've lost relatives and friends do to conflicts and have never found it to be an easy thing to accept. But if not for their sacrifice God only knows if we would be enjoying the freedom which we have. Be it ever so humble.
I have always been pretty stoic when attending a Funeral. But I will admit when attending a veterans funeral whether killed in conflict or having a natural death, it's the presentation of the flag that always brings me to tears. I believe only another veteran really understands the true meaning of this final statement of appreciation from their country.
It's sometimes hard for the families to understand also, but perhaps it would be of some comfort for them to know that all veterans grieve with them for their loss, and at the same time honor the sacrifice made by their loved one and their family.
