« on: September 01, 2009, 10:01:00 PM »
im fairly new to this sight.have been reading all the info for a couple years but seldom post.i wanted to relay this story for all you guys out there this season to be safe and careful while out hunting.a guy i know that lives 30 miles from me has a little archery shop beside his house.we arent close friends but i have known him for years from buying things from his shop.my sister even bought her first bow from him back when she first got into archery.he has always been very kind and helpful to anybody that has entered thru the doors of that little shop. no matter who you are or what kind of equipment you shot.just last week him and some of his buddys went to new mexico for a hunt.im not sure of all the hunt details but while they were out there a storm came in on them .so him and one of his buddys decided to seek shelter under a tree. lightning struck the tree and killed him and put his buddy in the hospital. if you would please pray for his family to get through this terrible time.he was a great guy and will be missed by alot of friends and family. all you guys be safe out there.---- joey

Prayers for the family on the way from Georgia.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Praying. New Mexico has one of the highest rates of lighting kills in the nation. Trees suck lightning, get low and squat down don't lay down.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

i dont know why they got under the tree. i thought it was common knowledge that a tree was the worst place to be during a storm.

Prayers for peace, strength and total reliance on what God has next for this troubled family.

Often we loose sight of truth in the heat of the moment when tired, wet, cold, etc.  Whether it be in treestands, walking or working with broadheads, these are the times when we get moving too fast and take mental shortcuts.

Let's all be safe out there.

Prayers will continue for both men's families.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!
