prayers needed, family in turmoil
« on: February 15, 2010, 01:08:00 AM »
Short update, year and a half ago lost my entire retirement fund. Over the past 12 months due to the economy and nature of my business I've lost 55% of my income. Getting by, but just barely.

In Sept I asked for prayers because of my youngest daughter suddenly without warning, leaving for Georgia and taking my grandson to live with the worthless thief and drug addict boyfriend.
Those prayers seemed to work, in Nov she called begging for us to come and bring her home.
Reluctantly went and moved her home for the sake of the grandson.

In the past three weeks she has wrecked one of our vehicles,(which is now in body shop). And we have found out that she has been stealing her mothers jewelry and pawning it.
We have recovered most of the jewelry but in doing so have spent the money which was intended to pay for the body work. (found out she was also using our debit card).
Kicked her out of the house Feb 7th (grandsons 2nd birthday). He remains here, she is in the street with no job or transportation. Told her we will keep grandson until she finds place to live and can care for him properly.

Wife is wanting to see lawyer about getting custody of grandson, we are really torn over this and it is driving a stake into our relationship. Along with this I have realized that(because of her actions) not only have we lost the funds to get car out of shop, but for the first time in 18 years the mortgage money is not there, and it has to be paid today before 6pm.
Can't believe My daughter would cause this to happen when she knew how tight things have been for us, especially since allowing her to come home and the extra expense it was bringing upon us.

Don't know what to do at this point, Other daughter and son are telling us to let her go and seek custody of the grandson. In a way it's right but then that's a big commitment at our age. Would like to think there is still hope for her but having my doubts.
The whole situation is tearing the family apart, I guess first I need to find some way to pay the mortgage and body shop today. Then move on to seeking the legal aid. I'm extremely hurt and a nervous wreck at this point.
Just can't believe she has done this to us!

Not sure what you need, or seek, brother.

Prayers for discernment.
Knowing what to do in situations is the hardest thing I've learned often confront us as a Christian.  When is Grace an enabler, coming from us mortals and when is it Christ shinning through?

Prayers for peace and strength.
I read recently on the 40 Days of Purpose website in a daily devotional, that financial worry is a type of atheism...not trusting in God fully. That seems a bit harsh but perhaps only because I worry about income as well as most today.

AS for your daughter's behaviors, do you really think that she lived with this "worthless thief and drug addict boyfriend" and didn't end up using drugs at least recreationally? ALL Users have to get everyone around them hooked so they don't feel alone...

Depending on the drugs that may or may not have been involved, individuals loose their ability to avoid errant behaviors and will do anything to get a fix. Crack cocaine is one. From what I read, just ONE TIME cause biological dependency!   :scared:

That right there terrifies me for everyone even remotely associated with drugs and their experimental use!

If drugs are involved, only she and Christ might be able to help unless she hits bottom hard enough to put herself into some professional rehab.

I doubt whatever is driving her has any logic behind it. What hurts the most is to watch good people like yourselves agonize in a logical internal debate about someone acting irrational and if drugs are involved, she will remain irrational in her illogical state until they are out of her system.

Double bind. Sorry for not shedding more hope. Only Christ can heal in some of these situations.

KNowing when to "let Go, Let God" is so critical in a time like this. He is OUR father. Go to Him and seek HIS wise counsel. Divorce yourself (best you can) from the emotions of seeing a child go astray, and ask Him to show you, regardless of the outcome, what His Will is in dealing with your daughter.

It sounds, from my comfortable safe distance, that you're love as a parent is throwing up some roadblocks and giving you false hope and also causing your extra pain by using a rational standard to judge someone's behavior who is obviously been living irrationally for some time.

PRayers for a financial short-term solution to come to you directly! May God grant His grace and peace on you and your wife as you debate this difficult situation.

Keep the Son in your eyes!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Prayers for our LORD to show you the path to reslove all this.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

bawana bowman,Prayers sent.I know what your going through.Instead of telling you my stories about my brother and my son,I will just say that it's close to the story about JOB in the bible. The devil has taken something away to test my faith in God.It's easy for me to have faith when every thing is going great.Don't let your faith decline. This kind of situation is tough on you, your wife, your other kids, and friends.I don't know who you are but your situation is hard on me.

Harold, I am praying for you, your family, and your daughter. I now Pastor a church here in Ky., but I wasn't always at the place I am today. I have had addiction problems, been a theif, been homeless on the streets of Miami, Fl.,etc. Don't give up on her, keep praying, sometimes "rock bottom" turns out to be a good place in the long run. Be positive and be encouraged, may the strength of the Lord hold your arms up and keep your chin up. My personal motto is "A setback is nothing more than a Setup for a Comeback", Hang in there!

Prayers for God's love to fill and protect you through this. May God's grace touch your daughter and make the worthless boy friend bow before the cross.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])
