about design, I use like longer lower profile 4 fletch, but extra heavy on the spiral wrap around the shaft (yes, by hand, with contact cement)for less braking so to hit hard out to 30 yards or so with 40-45 lb. bows. Also this tip which has all but eliminated arrow loss in the thick hunting woods. And that is by making the shaft and fletching to a bright color for great contrast with the terrain and plant life.
For my region, bright yellow works best. White is good except when it snows. However, sometimes a shaft lays up in a tree out of reach, that arrow is usually a goner unless a windstorm whips up right away.
Teaching kids to shoot is archery's greatest hoot!
