A friend died yesterday...
« on: August 07, 2011, 12:16:00 PM »
I just learned via email that a old, old friend of mine from HS, whom I just this spring started to reconnet with and learn to enjoy even more than in our past, died in Rehobeth Bay yesterday in a boating accident.

His wife didn't have my phone #'s...(all in his phone I guess) and when I sent him an email today, replied back apologizing for the crass way to communicate that he died.

He lived well and life fully. Retired early, had a good life and he and his wife had done well.  The 2 daughters, one recently divorced and another married with kids, came back East with him from AZ and he'd just bought the one girl her own place near another friend of ours.

This hit me especially hard for some reason.  I can't shake it easily today!

Please pray for Iris, his wife and his daughters and family.  This is going to leave a mark!

Lord in your mercy...

Prayers sent Doc. Nothing in this world is fair that's why we need to grab every blessing and drink it in full.

Thanks, Guys! With the way they're always moving around their various locations, I can't even send his wife a sympathy card. I don't have any of those varied mailing addresses.

I did reply via the email she sent from his I-phone so I know she got that...

Sure does bring one up short and like Benson said, "...gotta grab each blessing and enjoy it"

We just never know.  Jim had re-kindled our strong HS friendship recently, so in that sense, I mourn the loss of what might have been now that he was retired. The shameful part is that he had such a great life...loving wife, neat grandkids he adored, so full of life.

Details will trickle in, but he wasn't one to horse-play, so being a boating accident...there's a story there.

Hug those you love while you've got them. I ache for his wife, 2 daughters and their children whom he loved so dearly and was such an integral part of their lives in his early retirement.

Prayers coveted for peace for them all...

Prayers for the family sent from Georgia.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Memorial service 20th... that is going to be rough seeing all our old friends and his wife, kids and grandkids... he was so close to them all!

Buddy tells me more details: catamaran flipped, he and his future SIL got it back up and were talking, kid gets up on cat and turns and jim is gone..bay is murky so he can't find him...

Buddy thinks the autopsy will show head trauma and brain bleed cause jim was strong swimmer and in excellent physical shape.

Indeed, prayers for his wife, Iris, their daughters and son in law and the poor guy with him who is engaged to his youngest daughter.

This will leave a mark...Lord in your mercy.

Thanks everyone.

Leave in an hour or so for the memorial service in downtown Lanc.

I'd rather be whupped. I hate this stuff!  :(  I can handle a lot of tragedy, and usually be strong for others, but watching other in grief and anguish just sets me to tears like some big ninny.   "[dntthnk]"

I'll make it just fine, naturally, but I ache for my buddy's wife as they were surely a team. I ache for his daughters and families he just got settled back here and the grandbabies he adored and spent so much time with.

Hug em while ya got em... life can change so quickly!

Lord watch over these folks in this time of great need.

I goofed and posted report of teh memorial service on my other thread I posted... doh! hate when that happens.

Service for my friend went well...lots of testimonies and tears...lots of celebrating Jim's life and love of life.

Got to see his baby sister who now is all grown and has teens of her own. Gawd I got old all of a sudden like.

Thanks for prayers for Iris, the daughters and grandkids. Jim's passing will leave a hole.

Thanks, Keef.

He matured beyond what I'd have ever dreamed...goes to prove a good woman is behind every good man. He got one that kept him centered and motivated.

The Lefever clan thanks you for the prayers!
