ACS-CX brace & nock height????

Just got some new limbs and I am setting the bow up. The specs are 52#@28", 64" bow, shooting 3 under w/ GT5575 cut to 29.5" w/ 125gr tips.
I set the brace height at 7 1/2" and started the nock pt. at 1/2" high. Even with the 125gr tips they were shooting only slightly stiff. I will go to 145-150gr tonight. But at 1/2" the bareshafts were nock high. So, I kept creeping it up. Finally at 3/4" high they were still showing a little nock high..not much, but a little. Just wondering how you ACS-CX owners have your nock height set at. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the brace lower than what seems to be the norm-most are at 7 1/4 to 7 1/2 from what's been talked about. I am at 6 5/8-6 3/4. Nock for me is right in the range recommended by A&H-3/4.

I shoot 70-75# cedars-600 grains total weight. The bows are both 50# and 62".

I shot at lunch today. I was all over the place! My grip may be part of the problem. I hold up my hand like I am motioning for someone to STOP, keeping even pressure in my palm. The left edge of the grip lays in the middle of my palm. Out of 5 arrows 2 will be in the 8 ring or better...the other 3 are all over the place. I have a Blacktail recurve that I shoot very well...different grip of course. I just can't seem to give up on this bow yet.

What is the tip weight on those arrows Bjorn?  When I shot today I was getting better flight out of light tips. I started out with 150gr and ended up with 100gr. The heavier tips made the arrows fishtail like crazy. Seems weird for GT5575s out of 52# bow...??? It chrono'd at 170fps too. Not very fast as compared to what others say they get. My Blacktail is faster than this with more weight upfront.

Snag, I'm shooting 3 under with a nock set at 5/8's" high. My brace height is 7 1/4. I tie on 2 nocks one over and one under. Being cut 3/16's past center the ACS is very user friendly when it comes to bare shafting. I'm getting perfect arrow flight bare shaft. I could actually shoot these arrows without any fletching, might do that and save some money, lol! Seriously though are these bare shafts you're shooting or fletched arrows.

See Richbear, this is what ticks me off about this bow. Everyone says how great they shoot. I find it to be a tempermental bow....maybe I just haven't found the sweet spot on all the settings yet. But whatever I do, thus far, the results are opposite from what others are.

You are not alone.  I had a heck of a time finding the right arrows for the bow, and even then it was extremely finicky.  When I was on, I could shoot it very well, but if I goofed just a little, it was ugly.  I couldn't figure out if it was the grip, or the slight stack at my draw, or what.  I gave up.  I want a bow that will forgive slight plucks, etc., when taking a shot that counts.

BTW, did you try building out the side plate any?  They are cut quite a bit past center, which can create all kinds of weirdness.

Snag, the tip weight on my woodies is 125 field point or a 145 BH they fly the same. I played with the side plate for a while too and went back to just the velcro strip.  Mine weigh 600 grains total package and that's perfect from my 50# bows-at least for me, the bow/arrow combo works really well; and I made a point of leaving the other bows pretty much on the rack for the past 12-15 months.

I shoot GT 55/75's 100 grain brass insert, 175 grain points, 29" arrows.  I draw 28" and the finished arrow with wrap and 3 5" feather is around 575 grains.  I also use the bareshaft tuning method.  I found the bow very easy to tune and shoot.  I think the grip is what causes some folks problems.  I personally love the grip and it fits me very well.  I am sure a big reason why I like the bow so much.  A firm grip without trying to heal the bow too much works best for me.

Lefty, that is what I have discovered with the grip...firm but not tight, with more pressure at the top. I lay my thumb above the index finger slightly. The grip really feels like it was made for this. It doesn't feel foreign now. But I can't get good results with a heavier arrow. It bareshafts good with just the 125gr tips...no weighted inserts. I tried 175,200, and 250gr tips. With my 28"draw and the shafts cut off to 29" they were WAY too weak.

All my bows have a high nock and I do not shoot three under. I spoke to Bob morrison who told me he requires a high nock as well, we figure it must be how we apply pressure with our fingers. My bows are all between 3/4" and 7/8ths". I would think if you shoot 3 under you would be up near that 3/4" or better mark unless the bow was tillered for 3 under. Shawn
