Cancer's growing
« on: November 22, 2013, 09:13:00 PM »
Had a scan Monday and met with the oncologist on Wednesday. We were shown the scan and compared it to the previous one. It showed the larger tumor grew to about 4 1/4" the smaller one grew more and is about 3 1/4". There's a smaller one about the size of a golf ball in between them. So things are getting crowded in there. The Dr thinks we need to see about doing surgery again around the first of the year to clean it out. We'll be meeting with the surgeon and the oncologist after a scan in January. The oncologist is trying to get me into a new procedure where they will do a genetic test to see if the tumor matches the genetic marker of any other type of cancer. If it does then they will use the type of chemo that is used on the other cancer. I guess this has good potential. Anyway God is keeping my spirit up.
Thanks for the prayers.

Prayers sent from Georgia....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Prayers for continued well-being, peace, and discernment as to the right course of action, Galen!

Continued prayers for you.  My Father was a candidate for the pill form of Chemo.  He had to go for genetic testing to see if that was a viable option.  There are supposedly 6 different forms of the pill, each one for a specific cancer.  The pill targets those tumors only, not coursing through your body as typical chemo does, and there are very few side effects.  The worst he has experienced is loose stools from time to time.  Maybe this can be an option for you.  Regardless, stay on top of it and the doctors as well.  My heartfelt thoughts to you and your family during this time.  Also, stay positive.  No need to add any extra stress to your immune system.
