Tipping, by our standards, is extremely cheap. Especially so, now that South Africa has gotten a minimum wage law. The camp people, including cooks, kitchen staff, trackers, skinners, etc., are being paid more.
What I have always done, is gone over the list of employees who were involved somehow in our hunt with the outfitter. He recommends the tip amount and I add it right on to his bill. It seems that most outfitters do it that way.
I have a tracker with whom I hunt who I tip personally and higher than recommended. I also do the same with our chef, who is also the camp manager. He has become a personal friend and he takes wonderful care of all of us in camp, especially the observers, who sometimes just hang in camp and swim, do walks, etc.
