Afton House???
« on: September 19, 2007, 04:36:00 PM »
We're headed to Melorani next July, and are looking for a place to unwind for a couple days or so after the long flight, before our hunt. I've heard a number of people mention staying at a B&B-like establishment outside of J'burg called Afton House. Can't find a website for them. Any recommendations or additional suggestions?

Thanks!!!
Jeff

Greetings Jeff -- I can highly recommem the Afton Guest House.  I have stayed there on four different trips to RSA.  My last trip, this past July, my wife and I stayed at Afton for 5 days before our hunt and 3 days after.

Cheers from Alaska

My family and I stayed there before and after our hunting trip and we felt secure and were well-treated, providing transportation to and from the airport.

I believe they only serve breakfast, but they do provide transportation to a couple nice restaurants and can set you up with tours also.   BTW, the owners/operators are hunters with nice trophy displays throughout.

Jeff,
Stayed there in June and July of 2007.  You should find the accomodations quite acceptable.  They will meet you at the airport.  If you have never been to Africa be certain to have small bills to tip the porters.  If you have any questions let me know since it appears that I live close to you.
