Traditional Big Five

Has anyone in history made the big five with traditional equipment??

Well Howard Hill has shot Lion, Elephant and Buff, and im not sure about Rhino and leopard.

Cant think off the top of me head any one that has shot Rhino, so i guess thats me out.

Bob Swinehart did it with a longbow, some question his ethics on the elephant. Bill Negley did it with the Recurve.

I asked that because there is a spanish hunter that has started a project about being the first one to harvest the big five with traditional equipment. Well, the "big 7" because he add to the list the crocodile and the hippo.

I open this thread because I didnt like a few things.

First, who controls wich is the first one or not, or if it was fair chase??

I tell you a bit about the story. The hunt was take this summer in south africa, in a ranch called kunkuru and fountain valley natural reserve. The croco was taken the first day, and by the look of the pics it doesnt look like it was the tipycal place for a croco, there is just a bit of water.

The second day of the hunt he got the lion, amazingly the lion was taking a nap while they stalked it till 19 meters. Beautifull hair, looks like the cat had a wonderfull chilldhood.

The forth day, he got the buffalo. It is amazing that some one can harvest three animals in four days in fair chase conditions! Even with rifle!! Or that is my expirience after been in five diferent countries of the dark continent...

I suppose many of you have got a lot of expirience in the continent, doesnt something smells wrong?

Hes just one of those rich men that think Hunting is shooting tame drugged animals.

Looked to me that they just chucked a crock in to a water hole, and then got the guy to shoot it. The Rhino, if you go back and look at the angle the arrow entered the rhino, i think that thing was lying down when he shot it.
As for the Buff, of corse we cant tell what its says, just going by pics, firstly shooting 3 animals in 4 days??? The one guy that i now of that truly shot a cape buff in fair chase  walk and stalk with Trad is Paul Schafer, and he was said to be the best bowhunter that ever lived.
And judging by the looks of this guy, I dont think so.

Id guess you could say hes shot all 7 animals with a Trad Bow, but he definalty diffident hunt all 7.

He has not shot the 7 animals yet, he started with those in south africa, next year hunting thick skined animals will be prohibited in that country, and also the law of breeded lions release will be aplied.

I have been hunting bufallo in Botswana, Mozambique and CAR and cant think about a two day hunt!

lota money to do that! Safari is big Business sometime good for the sport and the animals and the environment sometimes bad we wont go into though.

there's a big difference between "shooting" a bunch of animals and actually "Hunting" them! BIG DIFFERENCE!!

Andy, I have the computer broken where I have the pics. I have the exact same picture in the mapumbukue reserve!!hehe Beautifull place, we saw a monster bushbuck, and I think that the same kilckspringer.

I ahve been looking at some of your threaths and looks like you hunt in a beatifull way. Must be awesome to enjoy Africa the way you do. Congrats!

The croc never even stirred the mud up....  I didn't waste my time looking any further.  Canned hunt.
