Stay away from Danner Jackals.  Had two pair this fall and both leaked.  First pair in a 1/2 hour of wet grass.  Second pair seamed ok until back packed in Co. and then they leaked bad.

Have had good luck with Danner pronghorns and  LL Beans.

I will never buy rockies again they are garbage!

I invested in much boots this year and man they feel like sneakers and sure do take a beating!  I love em to death.

I also tried some Danners and fell in love with them!  I bought a pair for my ol' man and tomorrow he gets them for xmas.  I think those are great boots and if I needed a lace up pack boot for long hauls like elk and what not I'd go with them very comfortable and easy to move in.

Also just bought a pair of morrells mid size hiking boots and those things are phenominal!  Right out of the box I went for a few miles in the woods and they felt amazing and are holding up nicely thus far.  Not insulation but are waterproof and comfy.

Several years ago, I bought a pair of Cabela's "Elk hunter" boots. They were pricy then, and more so now, but still going strong and still comfortable.
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

The PH Trackers are awesome.  I have a pair of those that are like walking in house slippers.  Amazingly comfortable and quiet.

I love my Danners: 16 years old, lots of hard hunts, on their 2nd, soon to be 3rd set of soles and still going strong.

I just got a pair of LaCrosse Alphas w/1200gram Insulation and the side zipper: best danged rubber boot I've ever had on by a factor of 10.

Someday I want to try a pair of Russels, only heard good about them.

My next pair will probably be the hanwag from Lathrop and sons, Terry raves about his.

I have a pair of Cabela Bruins until it gets TOO cold (800 thinsulate) then I either add a pair of booties that zip over or I go with my Sorrel Caribous!

I've worn Danner pronghorns for a few years and I'm not sold on them I think the ones mde in the USA are lots better, I am looking very seriously at some Miendle danali fit IQ's from Cabela's 250 bucks but like the guy said buy em once and you will have boots for a long long time.

I wear Justins and Red wings. They both wear fine for me.

I wear LaCross Alphas here too for most of my hunting.

If I'm going exclusively rabbit hunting (when deer season is over) then I use a pair of beat up jungle boots.

Honestly, I'm trying to figure a good way to get back to moccasins that will keep my feet warm and dry and under me.  G. Fred Asbell has some good ideas in his Stalking & Still-Hunting book that I might just have to try.

I've had two pair of Rocky boots and they were both junk.  I bought a pair of Merrell's a couple of years ago and they are still my favorite boots.
