The world record does have tusks that big, but the lowers are huge as well. It could be real.

I would think the lowers would be larger.

Hope he don't trip when he's running, he might poke his eye out.

This is a classic case of age old taxidermist practice of displaying alot more tusk than was producing when alive. On a warthog of that size there would be good 6" or more of tusk not showing/below gum line. It's easy to set tusk way out when mounting. However, lowers on top set of that length should be way longer. I suggest it's a set of uppers obtained without the correct lowers and mounted by taxidermist at later date with best lowers he had.

Ah, thats why they look so cool! Has anyone ever used tusks as tips for their bows? I have a ton waiting for me back home, that I collected when I was a ranger. Although they aren't nearly as big as those, even if they're set further out.

Hey Andy, where in the UK are you based?

Those are some tusks...
Need to go and read up on warthogs -  I don't see where they could fit 6" of that tusk back into their head? Are the tusks set at the correct angle in the picture?

And where \\ when do you land in Oz TradTusker?
If your passing through Sydney let me know.
Cheers

Ya Warthog tusks can vary alot depending on Area's, Genetics, soil type, food source ect..
Some have tusks are thin, some can be very thick
some pigs have quite strait tusks and others can have a full curl, there can be a lot of variation.

Andrew I land in Brisbane 11th May
wont be down in Sydney for a while but when i get down that way ill give you a shout.
