Shots are shorter then 20yds. most under  15yds. I had trouble with my follow through so switched over to Oneida ( on last 2 animals). I have been bow hunting since the late '60's but just could not hold it together on this trip. When shooting at target I had no problem but really got the shakes on animals. Recovery was within 50 yds on all animals but the warthog - dogs found and finished off with longbow. My advice is - don't worry about it- just be sure to follow through on shoots -  keep the bow up until the arrow hits. I only practiced a week before I left - had been on a 3 week trip with wife before going.  Also. you tend to shoot high when shooting out of the pit blinds- let your PH bring a target and take a few shoots out of the blind. The hardest animal to take was the Zebra. They are super spooky and tend to pack up when they come to drink. You should do fine as long as you remember to keep your form and follow through on shoots. The shots are really easy - it is a mind game - like walking on a 6" wide board on the ground is no problem- walking on it between 2 buildings 100 ft. above the ground is another matter- it is all in the head.

Forest hunter...don't feel too bad about difficulty with shooting when over there!  The first time I went over there...I had the same problem.  The shots were easy...but I kept having problems.  For me...I really think alot of it was thinking about how this may be the shot of a lifetime...and thinking about how if you draw blood..you are paying for that animal..etc.  But the second and third time I went, I was over that.  I shot at them just like I would if it were a squirell, and did excellent.  
    Also, getting shots at animals you have never seen in the wild can really mess with your head!  
    I gotta agree with you though.  Vissers is tough to beat.  I hunted with them 2 out of the 3 times I went to Africa and will hunt with them again as soon as I can.  Gene Wensel is over there hunting Vissers new Namibia place right now...so I cannot wait to hear the reports from him when he gets back.

Great hunt. I commend you in recognizing that you were having some bothering form issues and changed up where your were comfortable vs. taking the chance on the next live animal target.

Very nice size Impala, not an easy animal to shoot with a stick, even with compound difficult. One of the African animals with the highest wound rate due to their nervous nature - string jumpers of note. What bow and arrow setup?
