Brass inserts not as tight as aluminum?
« on: December 28, 2007, 05:09:00 PM »
Just got some brass inserts to load up some GoldTips.  They don't seem to have any play, but they slide right in, not the press fit with the GoldTip inserts.  Anyone else have the same experience and is it a problem?

The Gold Tips have inside dia. of .246.
The brass insters and the Cx are .244.
Many many Gold Tips people use the brass inserts. Just be sure to clean the inside of the shafts well and put on plenty of epoxy or Grip Tip.

Thanks SRTA, and thanks for the quick shipping.  I did clean it and put a good coating of Devcon 2 ton which has worked fine in the past.

I've had some that fit really tight and some just slide right on in.Some carbons have a .246 ID and some are closer to .243 ID.But I haven't had any problems with losing them.I clean and prep my shafts and lighly rough up the insert and use Powerbond to glue them.

I've had the same experience with GT and CX for Brass Inserts. Good advice given here.

I've tried and tried to get 'em into the tips of my cedars, but they just don't fit! :-)
