Straight D-shaped, dacron only, simple glue-up...just need to know lam thickness...can't find the calculator for Binghams' stuff for their youth bows...just the adult ones...

I made a really pretty bubinga youth longbow for my cousin's son...which was promptly broken by their neighbor by pulling it too far...so I am making one with two pieces of clear glass.

I have .040 glass on hand, and some 1/8" thick lams of red oak and ash...which suck, I know, but I'm out of bubinga and hard rock maple now...I just don't know if those lams are too thick.

So what thickness do I need to hit 20lbs at 24"?
I can make this bow to be 58" down to about 54" with no problems...I'd like to keep it 56" NTN.

Thanks for the info!!
Marc

I'd be very interested in this as well. I just received the Bingham instructional tape and plans for a youth longbow but it does not include a chart for calculating weight. I will be calling to see if they have one handy. I'll pass on any info I get. Here is a good build along that may help:  http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=051817

You've asked a question with a whole lot of variables here....Even the Bingham projects tables are not very reliable, and subject to very little variation in limb width, length, and shape....

PM sent....Kirk

Kirk,
I didn't see a PM yet...

To clarify, if someone gives me the number from the Binghams chart, for the youth 56" longbow, 1.25" wide, I can extrapolate pretty much everything else.

I have the Bingham blueprint, so can match the riser length, limb widths/tapers, and fades to get the correct formula.

Thanks much,
Marc
