A few game calls *UPDATED 3-3-14*
« on: February 10, 2014, 05:39:00 PM »
After seeing some calls for sale here I thought I would share some of mine.  The deer calls are for adjustable from a fawn to a mature buck.  Each call will come with a lanyard.  If you don't see something you like, wood or shape, let me know.  I'm happy to work something out with you.

The first three are dymond wood (laminated maple).  They are $35.00.  The gray one is not for sale, it's my son's.  The camo colored call also is one that you need to inhale through, don't ask!         :banghead:        **THE CALL ON THE FAR LEFT IS SOLD**

The next calls are osage.  They too are adjustable in tone.  These are $45.00 and will have the lanyard you see in the picture.  I have more osage on hand so there will be more to come.**THE OSAGE ON THE LEFT IS SOLD**

The last 4 are as follows from left to right:  zebra, bocote, and cocobolo.  These are also $45.00.  **ALL FOUR ARE SOLD**

Here is my son's duck call.  It's parts came from Echo Calls.  They have both single and double reeds.  I don't have any in stock but if you're interested shoot me a P.M. and we'll get one in the works for you.  I'm able to make these for $35.00

If you're interested in any of the calls please let me know.  I look forward to hearing from you.  Thank you.

Jeremy sent me one of his deer calls to "test" for the season last fall.   I told him what I looked for in a call, mainly volume to be able to reach out here in our open, windy, river bottoms.  Often the wind and water noises drown out the sound of "average" grunt calls.

When the call arrived, I must say, I was impressed with the quality of Jeremy's craftsmanship.   It's a beautiful call...but will it do what I needed?

I found a couple of calls that I had used in past seasons, that met my standards, and began comparing their tone and volume.   Jeremy's call performed better than both in the volume category, my main criteria.    Also, the adjustable grunt tube added another "layer" of control for me, beyond adjusting of the reed....so I was pleased and ready to put it to the real test on whitetails.

Although I did not shoot a buck this year, it was no fault of the call.   I managed to call in at least a dozen bucks with this call, including a couple "gaggers" but just couldn't put together the scenario I needed to loose a shaft at one.  Again, no fault of the call.

If you are looking for a great call, handmade by one of our own here on Trad-gang, then try one of these...you won't be disappointed!  - Mark Baker

I sent Jeremy a box of cutoffs from my business, and he sent me a really nice grunt call.

I believe it is camo actionwood(correct me Jeremy if that's not right)

It is a very well made call with a nice lanyard on it. The lanyard I don't use much so tied a loose knot in to keep it more compact.

I grunted in several bucks with it, but didn't get as many pics as Mark did.

This one in particular was my own fault for not getting a shot. I heard him breaking brush out about 60 yds. I grunted a couple times and the absolute most huge doe I've ever seen came right in and walked past me at 8 yards. She got about 20 yds past as I waited on Mr. Buck to come thru and she blew a couple times and then flipped her tail and walked off. He went in a little circle at 40 yds and followed her.....

Should have shot the doe, then the buck!! LOL

Sorry for the crappy pics!

I all told grunted in 7 bucks, and didn't get to hunt as much as I would have liked. They just didn't work out, but had several well within range, including a 130ish 9 pt and a 7x7 about 22" inside, but they were in pushing each other around and in no hurry and it was dark when they came by at 18 yds. Could see the white on their racks....

I would recommend these calls if you want a one of a kind call. Like Mark said, they have great volume, are adjustable, and for a different tone, you can use em backwards and produce a nice soft contact grunt by inhaling.

I'll turn some more in a few days.  I have some more dymond wood and cocobolo on hand.  Osage, camo, and zebra wood calls are still available.  Thanks TradGang!
