Kit blades, hand forged
« on: June 02, 2014, 05:19:00 PM »
I will keep these up for a couple days and see how it goes. If you are looking for a cheap weekend project, these are probably not for you.......
These are not heat treated yet, as they need to be stamped as kit blades(or not)first. They are forged, and stamped like my standard stuff, and if not spoken for, I'll finish them myself......in other words, I am not cutting any corners, these are up to the same standards as any of my finished blades.
If they are bought as kit blades, I will stamp them with "K" on the backside of the ricasso. Or I could stamp the buyers initials in there if they prefer.
These will be Hardened, Tempered and have the spine draw back to a spring temper. They will be performance tested for cutting and edge retention. The tangs will be threaded and a Lathe turned pommel nut of nickel silver, brass or mild steel, your choice, will be included.
Price is with a belt finish........useable as is, but could be finished out to whatever level the buyer feels like taking it too. I can also do an antique etch at a slight price increase to be discussed with the buyer.

These are all intended to be thru tangs, but could be done as a hidden tang as well. Much more freedom of handle shaping than a full tang, but a bit more involved to finish. Full instructional thread will be posted on the knife crafters forum on how to finish these out with minimal tools.

1-Top blade is just over 4 1/4" from tip to guard shoulder.......5/32" thick, about an inch wide. 1084 high carbon steel. Nice drop point hunter.
$90.00

2-Center Blade is 4 7/8" blade length, 3/16" thick 1 3/16" wide.......clip point is almost sharp. I consider this one a clip point hunter or could be finished as a gentleman's bowie. Steel is also 1084.
$105.00   SOLD

3-The bottom blade is my more less standard bowie blade. A hair under 1/4" thick, 1 5/8" wide, and 9 3/8" long, tip to guard. These are my go to blade for an all purpose backwoods knife. Thin enough to slice with little effort, hefty enough to chop down small trees and tough enough to handle pretty much anything reasonable you can subject it too. Steel is 5160
$185.00

All prices include shipping to the CONUS or Canada.
PM me if you have any questions. I will be heat treating these later this week.
Thanks,
Darcy    :campfire:

# 2 blade is sold....... Heat treating is postponed until early next week.
These will be the only kit blades from me for a while as my schedule will not allow any more until later this summer.

No longer available as kits......time to get them ready for HT, so one will go as a kit and I'll be finishing the other 2 myself.
Thanks,
