Bill,I just use mine for quick 10-12 second clips. Like I did with the hen turkey beating up my decoy last year.Or a the buck in Iowa under my stand.Eats up too much memeory to use it too much.

I also use if for short clips of my kids to send to relatives.

I was hoping I could load the clips into a movie maker to add to my camcorder clips...However the mov files that my camera takes are unsupported files (whatever that means)...None of the movie programs will recognize them...

Now I have to figure out how to convert them to MPEG files or something that the movie program will recognize..

ARRRGGGG!  I think it is a conspiracy to make things difficult....LOL

Bill, if you send the video to me in E-mail I can probably convert to a codec that you can use on the internet.

Tom,

What I was trying to do was use the mov files from my digital camera in movie mode, then edit it into windows movie maker to go along with my camcorder clips...After researching,it seems mov files are Apple and not compatable with any windows programs...

Right now I think I can get some kind of converter sofware that will change the mov files into something windows will recognize...

 Thanks though...

Yes, .mov is a Quicktime format. You can convert to other formats that windows will recognize. If you are wanting to make video for internet use .wmv is the more versatile format and does a better job than mpg.

Bill, I misread your post. If you want to move the video to DV tape you need to encode to avi format. If you want to go to DVD you need to encode to MPEG2. If you want to end up on VHS one way is to convert to avi back to your camcorder and then simply transfer to your VCR through your camcorder with composite cables.

I used mine to make the clips posted on the TX Sweat  thread.

You can play them straight off the card and post them on the internet.  I did mine at a lower setting so I could get all the info I wanted...it was the 3 minute setting.  If you have a big card a few clips don't take up much space....and I always carry a spare card just in case now.

Movie mode update....

I have a Panasonic Z27 digital camera...In movie mode at the highest resolution at 30 frames per second,it takes a very nice looking movie...

However, it takes movies in MOV format and not much can be done with that except limited CD burning....

I have found a converter program that converts the MOV files to AVI files....Once converted,I can open to windows movie maker, or any other video editing program, edit, and then burn to DVD...

I made a short clip, converted it,burned it to DVD and played it on my television...

Surprisingly good picture quality and sound...I would say as good as most of the cheaper digital camcorders...Good enough quality that I am considering a larger SD card, maybe 2....

You can get a 1 gig SD card for between 50 and 60 bucks. Mine will hold up to 8 minutes of video on the highest quality setting. Best place I've found is  www.newegg.com
