Gotta Start Somewhere Kodak Z885
« on: April 15, 2008, 08:07:00 PM »
Got pretty tired of using throw away camera's taking pics of turkeys while scouting. Only to find out they look like black dots, once I get the pic back LOL. 8 megapixel

Don't know if I did any better by picking up this model, but hey ya gotta start some where's. Mainly wanted it for hunting pics and vacation.

Was out this morning scouting for Turks, seen a  big gobbler with some hens not more than fifty yds away. I thought hey I'm set I got's me a wide angle /telephoto lens LOL.

If I'm understanding correctly I can make the pic look big upon reviewing it 2x 4x up to 8x

Once I downloaded it to the puter, you could see it was a turkey in strut but it wasn't pop'n with details.

Wife said it's not a distance camera, and I said it's only 50yds LOL. Anyone have any experience with this camera.

Thanks,
Mike

MJB,

A quick look at the camera shows that it has seven resolution settings. You might want to look at those and see which one you are currently using (probably the default). Pick the one that gives you what you want. The higher the resolution, the more detail you will have as you use your digital zoom to bring the picture closer on your PC screen.

Also, keep in mind that the optical zoom is what you want to use to keep the level of detail in the picture. The digital zoom just changes how many pixels are displayed.

Hope this helps,

Larry

Larry ,
THANK YOU !! Your reply is greatly appreciated. I'm using the smart scene mode . Maybe that had some effect on the picture.
THANKS AGAIN !!

Mike

Glad to help. Take some time to read through the users manual for your camera. You will find out all kinds of things that will help you use and also explain why it does things that you didn't expect.

One of the things I do that messes things up at times is using a different mode than I usually do and then forget to change back, like doing some things in Portrait and then wondering why I can't get stuff to focus.   :knothead:
