SD Card Recomendations?
« on: July 13, 2008, 02:31:00 AM »
Even as a creaky old dinosaur being dragged kicking & screaming into the digital age,I realize that due to the vast price range of SD cards, that they are probably not all created equal. That said,I'm seeking advice on brands & sources for 1 or 2GB cards for a trail cam.Speed isn't nearly as important to me as durability & value.Price is also a consideration, seeing as how it could walk off fairly easily.
       Thanks in advance!

The main differnce you will see is the speed the camera can write to the card.  If your just using it in a trail camera than any card should do the trick.  I havent seen any quality differences between the cheap and the expensive cards.

They all work the same but some are more reliable. I have several Transcend cards that have served me well. The absolute best place to buy is  www.newegg.com

Great service and super cheap.

I have several that I was going to sell over at E-*** but I would rather sell them to someone that will use them not flip them and resell. They are brand new with the security seal still intact. The specs on the back say that the 256MB will hold 284 pics and the 512MB will hold 569 pics when using a 2MP camera. $36.00 TYD for the works.

D.Sheppard,That's a great deal on those cards & I really appreciate the offer, but with fuel prices being what they are & my hunting grounds 100+ miles away,I'm thinking that the hogs, deer ,coons, armadillos & such could possibly fill card space a lot quicker than I'll be able to keep up with. That's the reason I'm thinking 2 Gigs or better. Thanks again to you & all for the info,I do feel more informed now.I'll check those out JL.
